Bookkeeping & Payroll Administrator
(Part-Time, Fixed-Term – Maternity Cover)
Location: Stokesley (primarily office-based, with occasional travel to client sites using a company vehicle)
Contract Type: 12-month fixed-term (maternity cover) – 2 positions available (with potential for permanent role)
Hours: Part-time – 2–3 days per week per role (together covering 5 days per week, 9:00am – 5:00pm)
Salary: Equivalent to £28,000 per annum (pro rata)

We’re looking for two highly organised, proactive individuals to join our team in a varied and hands-on role combining bookkeeping, payroll, accounts support, and involvement in marketing and events. Together, these roles will provide full week coverage for the business.
The Role – No Two Days Are the Same
This is a diverse role where you’ll play a key part in keeping the business running smoothly while supporting its continued growth.
You’ll be just as comfortable working on client accounts and processing payrolls as you are supporting marketing campaigns and helping deliver events.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys responsibility, has a strong eye for detail, and brings energy and ideas to their work.
Key Responsibilities
Finance & Payroll
- Bookkeeping across various accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, and LimeBooks.
- Processing payrolls for several businesses.
- Ensuring pensions and RTI submissions are completed accurately and on time.
- Supporting VAT return preparation and submissions.
Operations & Administration
- Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the office.
- General administration including filing and organisation.
- Welcoming clients and visitors, ensuring a professional and friendly experience.
Marketing & Events Support
- Assisting with social media content and online presence.
- Supporting marketing campaigns, events, and promotional activities.
- Gathering testimonials, supporting reporting, and enhancing brand visibility.
About You
This role would suit someone who thrives in a busy, varied environment and enjoys juggling multiple responsibilities.
You will ideally have:
- AAT Level 2 qualification (essential).
- At least 2 years’ commercial bookkeeping experience.
- Some payroll experience (training can be provided if needed).
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- A confident and friendly communication style.
- Good maths skills (minimum GCSE Grade C / Level 4 or equivalent).
- An interest in marketing, social media, or content creation.
You will also be someone who:
- Takes initiative and can think on your feet.
- Is highly organised and able to prioritise effectively.
- Handles a variety of clients and situations with professionalism.
- Works well as part of a close-knit team.
- Brings a positive, can-do attitude.
- Enjoys working hard while having a laugh along the way.
- Is responsible, reliable, and trustworthy.
Additional Requirements
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel to client sites.
- Experience or understanding of the countryside/farming sector is advantageous.
