With Christmas just around the corner, many of our clients are asking what they are allowed give their employees in this very difficult year to say thank you for all their support.
I thought I would share with you the HMRC guidance regarding what you can give to your employees without it being taxable.
Many people have a staff party, but as it is unlikely that we will be able to have a staff party this year, the restrictions about what we can give to our employees are much greater. A bit like the restrictions and guidance for COVID, they are very unhelpful!
If you’re thinking of giving cash or vouchers, they have to be taxable and either included in an employee’s PAYE or P11D. But if you want to give them gifts of wine or turkeys, that is fine but only to the value of £50 per employee.
